FAQ

How much should I use?

That's entirely up to you, but remember a little goes a long way. For an application on hands, an amount the size of a pea is usually enough. For whole body application it depends on the body - a larger body, drier skin, or the presence of body hair all increase the amount used. Generally speaking, 1/8 - 1/6 oz is enough for a full body application.

How long does a tin last?

For one person using one full body application per day, a 4oz tin will usually last 20-30 days. Your actual results may vary based on use.

Why is it greasy when I apply it?

Any greasiness will usually absorb in 30 seconds or less. There are two reasons Nature's Arsenal may be greasy for longer: you may have used too much (a little goes a long way!) or you may have applied on dry skin; remember, Nature's Arsenal has no water, so you have to supply your own. Try using less, and make sure your skin is very moist (or damp for you haters of that word).

Why does Nature's Arsenal have no water in it?

Why pay for what you already have? Water makes the product less cost-effective and forces you to use much more. Water also enables bacteria growth; by keeping water out of Nature's Arsenal, we can also keep preservatives out! That's a win for your skin.

Why do you use alcohol? Will that affect the quality?

We use bourbon in our formulas for two reasons: to draw out alcohol-soluble compounds in the coffee beans (including caffeine) and some flavor profiles like chocolate, and to make the lotion smell like bourbon. Bourbon is awesome! Quality is unaffected, and due to the small amount used there is no negative impact to the skin (and you're not gonna get funny looks either).

But why do you use Angel's Envy specifically?

I agree, Angel's Envy is better in the mouth than in the hand - it's one of my favorite bourbons! But the unique sweet smell imparted by finishing in port casks makes the fragrance one of a kind. Don't worry, a relatively small amount is used - one bottle can make more than 60 pounds of Nature's Arsenal! Side note: try a bottle - it's amazing!

My product is beading up or separating. Is that a problem?

Not at all! Some compounds in Nature's Arsenal liquefy at lower temperatures than others. If your product has been subjected to heat, some of those may have temporarily melted then resolidified as little beads. The metal tins make this easy to fix - just place in a bowl of hot water until the body butter melts, then pop it in the freezer to cool everything at the same pace. The body butter will be fully melted at around 170 F. Disclaimer: Tins are assumed to be heat safe up to 350 F but Nature's Arsenal does not recommend placing directly on a burner or in the oven.

I see little black specks in my product. Is it bad?

Not at all - what you're seeing is a little micro-ground coffee that made it past the filters. This will not affect product quality.

Is Nature's Arsenal anti-microbial or anti-bacterial?

While many ingredients in Nature's Arsenal have anti-microbial properties, and some are even used to treat minor wounds and infections, we have not tested how great the combined anti-microbial properties are, and thus make no claims on the subject. Nature's Arsenal is a cosmetic item, not a medical one. We fully support natural medicine and personally use it with great success, but at this time cannot make any claims that our product fits that category.

Does Nature's Arsenal expire?

We recommend using within 6 months of purchase for best quality, but you may find it's still good much longer! Oil lasts a long time if stored at stable temperatures - usually 2-5 years.

Can I freeze Nature's Arsenal?

Freezing will not harm the product in any way, however if frozen for a long time you may find ice crystals forming inside the container. When melted, this water may damage the product.

I see "Eph 6:11" on the packaging. What is that?

Ephesians 6:11 says, "Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil" (ESV). As a Christian company, we believe it is more vital than ever to equip ourselves with truth, righteousness, faith, and the Word of God. This commandment fits with our call to ARMOR UP - equip your skin with Nature's Arsenal; but remember to equip your heart, mind, and soul with the Word of God.
